Tiny Tots Spring Circle Dance
Circle dances exist in every culture around the world because they are a unifying and playful way to build community. Open Arms Dance Project shared their Tiny Tots Spring Circle Dance choreography for those who’d like to partake in a fun spring themed circle dance for parents and toddlers, and older kids too.
Danced to “Tip Toe Through the Tulips” by Tiny Tim
Introduce yourself to your neighbors in the circle and join hands with them.
Gently swing arms during the 8 count musical introduction (count music slowly). When singing begins, start tip-toeing around to the left, turning the circle for 8 counts, then continue around to the left with side-slides for 6 counts. Pause on count 7, shake, shimmy, and wiggle the whole body on count 8 - to match Tiny Tim’s voice.
Reverse and repeat tip-toeing (8cts) and side-sliding (8cts) - now turning the circle to the right.
(at :36) Stop turning, face center, continue holding hands: everyone tap right toe into the center, then left, repeat R, L 4x total (8cts.). JUMP open & close, repeat 4x (8cts.). Two footed hops forward 4x, then backward 4x (8cts.). Tip toe and spin in your own little circle. Adults can pick up and spin little ones.
(at 1:04) Face your little one heart to heart, hold both hands to side-slide and twirl together, out of the circle and all through the room.
(at 1:19) Come back to the circle, join hands, and start from the beginning, but everything is 2x faster. Turning left: tip-toeing, but only for 4cts. then side-sliding for 4cts. Reverse & repeat to the right. Tap toes R & L 1x each (4ct.), open & close 2x (4cts), hop forward 2x, backward 2x, then spin, laugh, hug and take a bow!
Open Arms Dance Project is a community of dancers with diverse bodies, ages, and abilities, creating powerful art together to create greater joy and compassion with dance that opens hearts, minds, and arms.
