2024 Hope for a Cure
Expedition Inspiration’s 2024 Climb for the Cure returns back to where it all began:
Expedition Inspiration's 2024 Climb for the Cure returns to JUMP where the Survivorship Wellness PILOT Program began. This program welcomed Expedition Inspiration’s climb/retreat members for a 10-week survivorship program leading up to their climb. The participants met once a week in the MOVE studio and other offsite areas, enjoying new experiences ranging from sound healing to yoga, qi gong, pound, mindfulness dancing and more. Most importantly, the program offered a safe space to share and connect with others who have experienced breast cancer on a deeper level, developing a sense of camaraderie and sisterhood as they prepared for their journey toward Hyndman Peak.
Hope for a Cure was a special event hosted by EI, JUMP and the Reveal Mission, where the 2024 climbers and other members of EI were invited back to JUMP to share their stories of their own unique journey and summit. This event was open to the public and was also space to learn more about Expedition Inspiration and all that they are doing to END BREAST CANCER… by funding research, empowering collaboration, and cultivating inspiration.
REVEAL MISSION: GENTLY REVEALING THE SCARS AND STORIES TO FULLY HEAL
Expedition Inspiration and JUMP were also thrilled to collaborate with Chad Estes of the Reveal Mission during the 2024 Survivorship Reveal. A special photography exhibit in the MOVE studio showcased exquisite photographs and inspiring stories of some of the local women of the 2024 Climb for the Cure.
Chad is a compassionate cancer advocate, a hospice Chaplin and a talented spokesman, storyteller and photographer. His nonprofit’s mission is to facilitate healing in people who have scars that they choose to gently uncover. Chad offers this healing through conversation, personal portraits and if further desired, portraits and stories that can be share with the world. The Reveal Mission has since grown to incorporate body image realities and end of life situations as well.
This exhibit was held in the MOVE studio during the event. Chad asked whomever that wanted to enter into the exhibit to please honor these women’s courage and respect their journeys.
LEARNING NEW SKILLS AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE EVENT: Members of the Survivorship Wellness PILOT Program were invited back to JUMP to learn basic video editing and do their part to help create a video footage loop of their climb for the night of the event.
They had about 8-12 hours of interviews along with hundreds of videos and photos to submit for the film below. This year, they hope to gather more important and crucial resources from the multitude of content that they gathered in hopes to expand their offerings and research with other survivors.
Aldis Garsvo and Mountain Post Productions were invaluable to helping them create wonderful content to be debuted at the Hope for a Cure event and EI is eternally grateful.
LONGEVITY: EXPEDITION INSPIRATION’S GALLERY OF IMPACT & REVEAL MISSION TRAVELING EXHIBIT
Expedition Inspiration’s 2024 Climb for the Cure Gallery of Impact and Reveal Mission Photographs will be displayed at multiple locations in Ketchum and throughout the Treasure Valley. Letter from EXPEDITION INSPIRATION:
Educate, Inspire and Raise Funds for Breast Cancer Research
Expedition Inspiration serves women who have been impacted by breast cancer in various stages of their journeys. Our climb program is designed to meet any participant where they are on their physical journey. Everyone’s summit is unique and celebrated. This year, eleven participants in all stages of their breast cancer journeys – from twelve years in remission to newly diagnosed – joined in a shared experience to Hyndman Peak. Each climber experienced their own summit; for some it was standing on the actual peak at 12,009 feet, for others it was enjoying an alpine lake at 10,000 feet. Each experience was unique, personal, and beautiful. We cheered every step, every deep breath, and every tear!
The impact of our program allowed for meaningful connections among our participants, bonds that will no doubt last a lifetime. It also provided an opportunity for reflection and healing regarding their breast cancer journeys. As a result of the Survivorship Pilot Program, the participants arrived at the retreat with friends, not strangers, which allowed for a much more intimate, trusting, and relaxed environment.
Expedition Inspiration fulfills our mission through three key focus areas: funding pioneering research, empowering, thoughtful collaborations among researchers, and celebrating and fostering survivorship and inspiration by hiking and climbing mountains. Through our organized outdoor endeavors, we promote the physical, mental and emotional well-being of those affected by breast cancer.
Thank you for supporting our survivors and Expedition Inspiration in our quest to raise money for breast cancer research and finding a cure in our lifetime!
Since 1995, Expedition Inspiration has funded over $1,830,250 in research grants. The money we raised for this climb goes directly into the hands of those working to find a cure.
