A Simple, Impactful Shoot at JUMP
I recently led a video shoot at JUMP, teaming up with Clemy’s Crew to support their upcoming benefit concert and mission. We set out to create a genuine, heartfelt interview with founder Scott Thompson, something that would resonate with potential donors.
We chose to film facing the large windows in the space, capturing the textured buildings outside as a natural backdrop. The room was filled with light, so we opted not to use a light kit. We applied ND filters and let the natural light do the work. By framing Scott between two window beams, we created a subtle yet compelling symmetry in the wide shot.
The setup was efficient: two Sony FX3 cameras, a lavalier microphone on Scott, and a prepared script to keep the shoot focused and flowing smoothly. The entire production was quick, seamless, and a perfect example of how a minimal setup can still produce powerful results.
The final edit, clocking in at two minutes, was played at Treefort Fort Music Hall, and it helped generate $40,000 that night. Knowing that our work directly contributed to such an impactful outcome made the project especially meaningful.
I’m grateful for the JUMP space and the opportunity to help bring this story to life.
