Lessons in Design
Jaxon leads a design demonstration with young students around him
In the MAKE studio at JUMP, Jaxon, a recent high school graduate and aspiring transportation designer led a series of design workshops for young students. The workshops guided the students through a typical design workflow: brainstorm ideas, sketch and rough out those ideas on paper and finally model the sketches in 3D space with clay. Jaxon loves design work and believes world of design opens so many doors in life, that’s why he wanted to share his passion through this workshop series. Now these young students can begin their own wonderous design journeys.
For the last couple of years, Jaxon has been working on his Studio Community Project in the MAKE studio, making his own car designs. The designs workshops are a culmination of lessons he’s learned in his school classes and through working on his own project. While the elementary aged students improved their sketching skills, Jaxon received a self-administered crash course on instructing. In preparation for the workshops he wrote planning documents to help structure and pace his workshops, created a slide deck and presentation and assembled numerous kits with modeling materials. We look forward to seeing Jaxon’s next projects and appreciate his work inspiring the next generation of designers who will shape our world.
